When are you “too weird”?

This is not a question I am ready to answer.

I know I have been looking for employment throughout my decade(s) and it is honestly brutal to be judged based on a first meeting. Or some other limited parameter.

Imagine being judged on what you wore in the 90s or what you said when you were mad. We are human and mistakes are par for the course. At least I… think?

Totally okay being wrong, yet also fully understand the implications of being cast as incapable of getting the gig. It burns and it IS actually personal though no one wants to admit this. If you never get feedback how are you expected to improve? AND most hiring managers or general managers do NOT feel comfortable and afraid giving negative feedback.

YET.

What if it was constructive feedback? How can we do this mercifully?

Constructive feedback has no strings if you are not hiring the individual but it gives said person a roadmap for their next attempt. Iteration is real outside of the API space, folks.

Observing, noting, documenting is all.
